Love in Grey and Yellow: T-shirts and Ties

To thank all our friendors, readers, ushers and wedding party, we bought everyone t-shirts.  We wanted something fun that people would use but that would fit in our tiny budget.  The t-shirts where a hit!  Everyone loved them and how each shirt sort of represented their personalities.

Actually, not everyone got a shirt.  Sister Joey got an awesome gift bag full of things we thought she’d love.  We gave friendor Wendy a cute purse in “her” colors and the ushers and BM got prints of vintage college football posters.

We also gave the ushers their ties for the wedding.

Love in Grey and Yellow : Make Room For Dessert

Our delicious was followed by one of our favorite desserts, ice cream.  It was your run of the mill grocery store ice cream, it was our favorites from a local ice cream shop Molly Moon.  Oh, so good.  They have amazing flavors.  I love the honey lavender but we went with our favorites: Salted Caramel, Vivace Coffee and Strawberry Balsamic. We love salty sweet desserts.  We love popcorn with semi-sweet chocolate on movie night and our favorite candy is a caramel surrounded in dark chocolate and topped with smoked grey sea salt from Fran’s Chocolates.  Noticing a trend?

Love in Grey and Yellow : Rubba Dub Dub Thanks for the Grub

Yay Lake Street Catering! The food was…well, all I can say is NOM NOM NOM!  I know I’ve been singing their praises a lot but seriously, I can’t think of two nicer people than Neil and Lynn.  The night was perfect and really, that was all because of them.

OK, now that the thanking and praising is over, let’s eat!

Love in Grey and Yellow : Toasting to Tomorrow

We decided early on that Papa Joey would skip giving a toast altogether – he gets too emotional and isn’t comfortable talking in front of crowds.  We also decided that FIL Joey would give a toast at the rehearsal dinner.  Papa Joey told me later he was glad he skipped giving a toast, FIL Joey is a professional speaker (a professor) and his toast was engaging, sentimental and perfect.  Papa Joey was happy to leave it to the master.

Love in Grey and Yellow : Because Everyone Loves a Yacht and Some Really Cute Kids

Yes, there was a yacht.  The owner of the house lives full-time in New Zealand but has this beautiful house in the Seattle area she summers at.  Along with the beautiful house, she also keeps an amazing yacht here.  The kitchen in the yacht is bigger than my kitchen and I have a good sized kitchen.  We didn’t get to go for a sail (that would have been awesome) but guests did get to lounge on the yacht.

Love in Grey and Yellow: His Peeps + My Peeps = Our Peeps

Mr. Joey and I have been together for 5 years and so by now, we’ve met each others immediate family and actually are all quite close.  We’re really fortunate that we each get along really, really well with our in-laws.

Because all of Mama Joey’s family live in Seattle, Mr. Joey has had the chance to meet and interact with them quite a bit.  Unfortunately for us, Mr. Joey’s extended family lives in California, he doesn’t get to see them much.  I had never met any of his aunts, uncles or cousins.  Thankfully, some of Mr. Joey’s family decided to join us for the wedding and his cousin Cate even agreed to read during the ceremony.

The rehearsal dinner was a great way for our families to meet each other.  Mr.Joey’s immediate family had heard of nutty Sister Joey but never met her.  I had heard stories about Mr. Joey’s cousins but never met them.  Finally, everyone got to meet each other.

The other great thing about the rehearsal dinner was that my families got to meet each other.  Family from Papa Joey’s side flew in from Sri-Lanka and London and finally got to meet Mama Joey’s family who live here.

Love in Grey and Yellow : Chilaxing Before the Big Day

We were both REALLY REALLY excited for the rehearsal dinner.  We had sampled the food before hand (delicious), checked out the dinner site (stunning) and could wait to actually talk to all the people taking part in our big day.  The week before the wedding was big blur and never got time to just talk to all our friends and family who flew in.

The rehearsal dinner was probably my 2nd favorite thing about the whole wedding weekend.  The wedding day was so hectic and there were whole groups of people we never got to talk to.  I’m really glad we had the chance to catch-up with the people who helped make our day happen.

Love in Grey and Yellow : The Joey Wedding Friendor All-Stars

So Before I continue any further with the recaps, I want to formally introduce you to the Joey Wedding All-Stars.  This day wouldn’t be as memorable, put together or as fun without them.

Joey MOH (a.k.a. sister Joey)

She came home from Italy, put together a wonderful shower, a rocking bachelorette party and filled the role of 5 bridesmaids.

The Joey’s Day of Wedding Coordinators – Wendy and David

Wendy and David are two of sister Joey's bestest friends and officially in our family for life.  David spent some of his summer visiting sister Joey where they developed shower games and Wendy helped sister Joey put together the shower and the bachelorette.  David and Wendy set up the reception site while we were busy getting married.

Assistant to the MOH – Cousin Juliette

My Cousin Juliette came over from London for the wedding and I’m so glad she did.  She help Sister Joey find a last minute MOH dress, helped with the bachelorette party arrangements, kept my parents calm, helped with flowers and was a reader in our ceremony.  I should have made here a bridesmaid!

Rehearsal Dinner Photographer and Reception 2nd Shooter -  Mrs. Cherry Pie

Yes, you read that right, Weddingbee’s very own Mrs. Cherry Pie shot my wedding.  A few months back, Mrs. Cherry Pie contacted me about possibly 2nd shooting our wedding.  She had just started her own photography business, Persimmon Images, and was looking to add to her portfolio.  At the time, we already had someone to 2nd shoot, so I asked her if she was interested in shooting our rehearsal dinner and after party.  She said yes and we were really excited.  When our 2nd shooter pulled out at the last minute, I contacted Mrs. CP (5 days before the wedding) and asked if she was available to 2nd shoot part of our reception.  She saved our reception (and our memories) and said yes.

All photos from the rehearsal dinner, after party and this post (except the one directly above) are samples of her work.  They are all really gorgeous and I’m not saying that because she’s Mrs. CP and it’s of our wedding. If you are looking for a seriously talented photographer, the Joeys HIGHLY recommend Persimmon Images for your wedding, engagement and boudior needs.  She also takes a mean picture of some seriously cute doggies.
